Iron Deficiency and Symptoms of Anemia
Iron deficiency can hinder many important bodily
processes. Iron deficiency is a term referring to an
unusually low level of iron.
When you have an iron
deficiency, a condition called anemia can result. Anemia occurs
when the amount of hemoglobin in our red blood cells and the
number of red blood cells has been lowered. Hemoglobin is the
red substance in blood that carries oxygen which circulates
throughout our bodies. The cells require oxygen to work well.

The best source of iron is red meat. Iron from animal
sources is the easiest source of iron for the body to absorb.
Iron can also be found in certain vegetables and fruit. To
assist the body to absorb iron, eat foods rich in vitamin C.

that can be taken to combat iron deficiency.
Iron deficiency has a number of causes. Not eating
nutritious meals can trigger this condition. If someone has
part of their stomach removed, iron deficiency can occur as
well. Excessive loss of blood can also be a contributing
factor. Blood loss can be caused by heavy menstration flow. It
can also be caused by giving too much blood as a donor.
Hookworm infestation can also be a factor. Bleeding into the
urine or gastrointestinal tract can also result in a loss of
blood.
Here are some symptoms of iron deficiency. Fatigue,
difficulty in breathing, very pale skin, difficulty swallowing,
soreness of the mouth and brittle fingernails. Iron
deficiency's most common symptom is paleness of the skin and
lips, eyelid lining and nail beds. Anemia may be the underlying
cause of irritability, fatigue, lightheadedness and rapid
heartbeat.
Anemia can be diagnosed by blood tests, serum iron and
ferritin tests, hemoglobin electrohoresis and bone marrow
