High Protein Foods

High protein foods help us increase muscle mass since protein is the building block of muscle. If you don't eat enough protein when you do weight training, you may not build muscle at all. That's because weight lifting tears down muscle protein which needs to be replaced.

We need a lot of protein and today high protein is one of the most popular diets.

Although there are many foods rich in protein, you need to consider the specific protein food that is best for your needs.

 

It's a surprising finding in North America that low levels of protein is common among women.

There are a number of high protein foods mentioned in this article so you have quite a choice of high protein meals, but you need to know there are different sources of protein.

Foods containing casein derived from milk products are very good for helping with muscle tone. Although some people are allergic to milk products, others are helped because they release amino acids slowly. So casein-based high protein foods can increase muscle strength more effectively than other types of protein.

Whey is another excellent source of protein. It's a supplement found in health food stores. It has become so popular as a protein source that foods containing it are becoming more difficult to obtain. It also seems to have benefits acting as a cancer suppressant and can help our immune systems.

Soy based foods are also a good source of protein.

Eggs are a good source of protein but you have to eat a lot of them to fulfill your protein needs. Eggs can be added to other foods to get more protein.

Meat is one of the best and least expensive sources of protein. Some choices in beef include sirloin steak, round steak and lean ground beef. Your selection of poultry includes chicken breast and turkey breast. You can choose fish like salmon, tuna, swordfish and haddock for your protein needs.

Eating a lot of protein seems to work well for losing weight, losing fat and building muscles. If you don't eat enough protein each day, your body may take it from existing muscle tissue. Protein also helps to satisfy hunger better than other foods.

Water is the main substance in our bodies and then comes protein. Many of our body parts are made mostly of protein so be sure to eat lots of high protein foods.
