Find the Right Treadmill
Do you need help to find the
right treadmill?
The models at the gym are many
thousands of dollars, much more than most home users will be
able to afford. Use the tips below to find the right
treadmill.
If you are new to walking or running, you should look for a
treadmill with a reasonable price, preset programs and plenty
of bounce in the footing. The Sole F63 offers six programs, a
well supported belt, a warranty on parts, labor and their motor
and a price tag of about $1000. Great features on the Sole F63
are: armrest controls that make adjusting speed and incline
easy and the fold-away feature.
The Smooth 6.25 is another great beginner treadmill. For
about $1500, this treadmill offers eight preset programs,
includes a heart monitor and a wonderful warranty. This
treadmill has a wonderful large LCD display in addition to the
heart strap monitor.
NordicTrack offers a great treadmill for the incline runner.
The Incline Trainer X5 offers an incline up to 30°, compared to
10° offered on both the Smooth and the Sole models. Another
bonus on this model is the upper body resistance cables. The
NordicTrack Incline Trainer X5 is great for intermediate
runners or walkers and costs about $1600.
Advanced runners will be more selective and might take
longer to find the right treadmill. One popular treadmill for
the more expert runner is the Landice L7 Pro Sports Trainer.
You’ll pay more for this one, it costs about $3000, but you get
more complex features. Speed, for one; you can reach 12 MPH
instead of the max of 10 MPH on the others listed. An incline
up to 15°, two user-defined programs available and a lifetime
warranty on parts.
The conveniences of exercising indoors are many, and so are
the treadmill exercises. When shopping for a treadmill, keep in
mind your budget, fitness level and intended use. Don’t buy the
first one you see; you’ll have to try a few out to find the
right treadmill.
