What types of Memory foam
Memory foam is made from
polyurethane and other chemicals are used to increase the
density of it. Depending on
the types of chemicals used, the memory foam can be cooler in
warmer temperatures and warmer in cold temperatures.
Lower density memory foam can also mold itself around the
shape of a warm body in a matter or minutes. Memory foam was
originally designed for the space program, but was never used
for it. Since it wasn’t used for the space program, memory foam
has been used for medicinal purposes. This type of memory foam
was too expensive, however, for public and general uses.
Another type of memory foam called “visco-elastic” was
designed and invented. This memory foam has been used in
mattresses, pillows, and mattress pads. In recent years this
memory foam has become cheaper to use and is more widely used
in the home. A memory foam mattress is usually denser then an
ordinary foam mattress thereby making it more supportive but
also heavier. New memory foam gives off a chemical odor that
can be unpleasant, but it fades when the mattress is allowed to
air out. Some people still complain of its odor even after it
has aired out, and consumers should take this into
consideration when buying or shopping around for a memory foam
mattress.
Memory foam mattresses, pads, and pillows can be found in
most department stores, home stores, bed and bedding stores, as
well as online. Prices vary but, there is something for all
budgets.
