What To Look For In A Body Detox

by Charlie Michaels

No matter how healthy we may be, the fact remains that everyone gets sick. Everyone ages, and everyone has days when they don't feel like themselves. Sometimes when we're not feeling our best, we tend to shrug off our symptoms as a sign that we're getting older and our bodies simply aren't what they used to be. At other times, we might try and treat the symptoms ourselves without knowing what we're really doing. What you probably didn't know, however, is that many common complaints may be due to the accumulation of toxins in our body, and that perhaps we need to find a good body detoxification program.

Osteoarthritis, diabetes and cancer are some of the deadly diseases that can be caused by the accumulation of excess toxins in the body. Detoxing at least once a year is recommended to prevent accumulation of toxins. Eating healthy food and following a regular exercise regime can help prevent toxin formation.

A detox program should always be started with a day's fasting especially if you are under some prescribed medication. It is advisable to start it on a day when you are completely relaxed and at ease without the pressure of having to deliver something.

On the day you have chosen to start the treatment, it is ideal to start the day with a glass of hot water with a dash of fresh lime juice. This will help cleanse the liver, kidneys and digestive tract. Drinking more water throughout the day will help prevent dehydration and removal of the toxins.

The next day, you can begin to reintroduce your body to food. Start with a diet of raw fruits and vegetables. These are excellent cleansing agents and are easier to digest. They also help enhance the immune system and can raise your metabolism. Overall, raw fruits and vegetables are a wonderful way to improve your constitution so that your body performs better.

When more toxins are flushed out of the body, you will start to feel the improvement in your body pains and general health. The body will respond better to your treatment and soon you will be back to your normal self.

If possible, try to get a hold of organic fruits and vegetables because such produce has not been exposed to toxic chemicals. Gardeners who can grow fruits and vegetables without adding pesticides are particularly lucky when it comes to finding sources of organic produce.

Vegetables which are freshly picked have more nutritional value than the ones which are many days old. Fresh herbs also be added to your intake. A lot of salad can be added to your diet.
