Diet for Cleansing Your
Colon
Many people when looking for a
colon cleansing diet can be a bit confused when they find a
diet that is referred to as a detox diet. Normally
associating detoxification with alcohol or drug abuse as they
research it further they find that detoxification is so much
more than that. Detox also refers
to the usage of herbs and specific diets that naturally remove
toxins of all kinds from the body.
Many herbalists suggest a two week colon cleansing diet that
would consist of a very stringent nutritional plan that would
certainly assist the colon with elimination and removal of
unwanted toxins. Before you begin any diet you should always do
a little research so that you can educate yourself on the topic
first. You should know the basics and what foods to avoid as
well as those that you should eat. You should also know exactly
what is labeled as “proper elimination.”
A really good sample of what a colon cleansing diet should look
like would be a glass of warm lemon water and about one
tablespoon of flax seed mixed into a glass of water. Drink this
as soon as you wake up and then a while later when you are
ready for breakfast you could have a smoothie that would
include a piece of fruit, rice milk, and a protein powder. Of
course you can add ice but make sure that you do take a vitamin
C supplement at that time. If you are looking for a snack you
have your choice of diluted apple juice, vegetable broth, or
celery sticks and hummus.
Lunch might look something like this, vegetable soup made with
vegetable stock and your favorite vegetables, steamed broccoli,
beets, and brown rice, maybe some applesauce. At dinnertime you
could eat lentils, a salad, and some vegetable broth. However,
it is essential that before bed you mix 1 tablespoon of ground
flax seeds in a glass of water.
The whole idea behind using a colon cleansing diet is to assist
the body in ridding stools and urine which is where the toxic
substances are stored and disbursed. It can not be understated
that you have to literally flood yourself with at least two
quarts of water per day and you can also drink a ginger tea or
an alkaline broth. Following a diet such as this for a couple
of weeks should ensure that your colon gets a good
cleansing.
